Curly maple and lacewood  craftsman flute

Curly maple is also called flame maple or tiger maple. It is a medium dense, smooth grained sustainably harvested North American hardwood.  It is a light cream color that age to a more golden hue. It is noted for its 3D shimmering effect when moved. Lacewood  is a reddish gold colored, medium density hardwood from South America that is known for its lace like grain pattern.  A curly maple Native American style flute has a clear, articulate tonal quality a bit brighter and more focused than cherry. A flute made from curly maple and lacewood finishes to a smooth, satiny  surface.
